Justice Democrats Endorse Ayanna Pressley for Congress
Boston, Thursday, May 31 — The Ayanna Pressley for Congress campaign today announced the endorsement of Justice Democrats, a grassroots organization dedicated to recruiting and supporting progressive Democrats around the country. Created following the 2016 Presidential election, the organization has endorsed more than 50 candidates for Federal, statewide, and local office.
“I am humbled to have earned the support of Justice Democrats. Their organization is dedicated to strengthening our party by advocating for common-sense solutions that will help the most vulnerable among us to fulfill their God-given potential,” said Pressley. “To be included with so many other dynamic and forward-looking candidates makes me hopeful about the future of our party for 2018 and beyond.”
The Justice Democrats’ platform reflects many of the same issues Pressley has prioritized through her career, including enacting common sense gun control, passing comprehensive immigration reform, defending the rights of women and girls, and ensuring that every worker is paid a living wage.
“Councilor Pressley is a groundbreaking advocate for the people of the 7th Congressional District — her work on the Boston City Council has addressed many difficult issues and improved the lives of many, and we’re proud to stand behind her in her campaign for Congress” said Alexandra Rojas, Co-President of Justice Democrats. “Our party is at a crossroads, and leaders like Ayanna are key to unlocking the full potential of government to act as a powerful force for good in the lives of those among us who are most in need”
Today’s announcement continues a string of endorsements from the grassroots of the party, including May’s endorsement from former Massachusetts Democratic Party Chairman John Walsh – who ran Governor Deval Patrick’s groundbreaking grassroots campaign in 2006, and previous endorsements from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 103 and UNITE Here Local 26.
