Former Massachusetts Democratic Party Chair John Walsh Endorses Ayanna Pressley for Congress

Boston– The Ayanna Pressley for Congress campaign announced the endorsement of former Massachusetts Democratic Party Chair John Walsh.

Walsh served as Campaign Manager for Deval Patrick’s groundbreaking 2006 gubernatorial campaign and as chair of the Massachusetts Democratic Party between 2007 and 2013, and has been a senior advisor on grassroots organizing and strategy for numerous candidates and organizations in Massachusetts.

“At this critical crossroads for Democrats, we are rightfully asking ourselves hard questions about who we are, what we stand for, and how we lift up the next generation of leaders who will bring our party into the future,” said Walsh. “As the former Chair of the Massachusetts Democratic Party, I see Ayanna Pressley as a big part of the answer to those questions. Her commitment to addressing issues like systemic inequality, public health, and gun violence have been relentless, as has her intentional advocacy to ensure that all of our communities are seen and heard. I’m proud to endorse her candidacy for Congress.”

“For nearly my entire career in Massachusetts politics, John Walsh has been a friend, a mentor, and an incredible advocate. He has proven again and again the power of grassroots organizing to create change, and I’m humbled to have earned his support” said Pressley. “As the former chair of the Massachusetts Democratic Party, John knows that our party and country is at a moment when we cannot be afraid to make bold choices about who represents us in Washington.”

This endorsement follows the May 21st event where more than 200 activists, leaders, and organizers across Boston’s communities of color came together to support of Ayanna’s campaign. To date, the campaign has engaged with more than 300 volunteers in every city and town to knock doors and make phone calls throughout the 7th Congressional District.
