At-Large Boston City Councilor Annissa Essaibi-George Endorses Ayanna Pressley for Congress
Boston — The Ayanna Pressley for Congress campaign announced the endorsement of At-Large Boston City Councilor Annissa Essaibi-George.
“Before I was elected to the Boston City Council, I didn’t fully appreciate the impact of Councilor Pressley’s voice and leadership,” said Essaibi-George. “Now, as a colleague of hers, I’ve had a front row seat, and see that her impact is undeniable. The lens that she brings to the issues is a valuable one, and her voice is a powerful one that we need in Congress, especially now.”
A first-generation American, former teacher in the Boston Public Schools, and small-business owner, Essaibi-George was first elected to the Boston City Council in 2015, and has served as Chair of the Committee on Education and the Committee on Homelessness, Mental Health, and Recovery.
“Ayanna will never shy away from tough topics, challenging issues or hard work, and she will actively enlist and engage the residents of the 7th Congressional District in the visioning of their communities and in the problem solving to address its challenges,” said Essaibi-George.
“I admire Annissa’s work ethic, authenticity and tenacity,” said Pressley “Together, we’ve partnered to advance the safety, development, health and wellness of women and girls, and to increase access to mental health supports and interventions for those in need. There is no denying the difference Councilor Essaibi-George has made on the Council, especially when it comes to families experiencing homelessness, and other vulnerable populations.I am humbled to have earned her support.”
